We drove thru Tampa to meet up with my uncle and his family. They recommended this restaurant for authentic Chinese food, and we absolutely loved it. We let his wife and daughters, who are from Beijing, order everything. We had duck, salt and pepper pork, fried rice, beef chow fun, some sort of egg drop, and corn soup. I could eat that duck for every meal. This would definitely be a go-to spot for some authentic Chinese food id recommended to anyone. They have frog, pork intestines, eel and i even saw shark on the menu somewhere.
An incredible find. Restaurant was very clean and service was stellar. We started off with crispy pork, sauteed eggplant in garlic sauce and for mains steamed flounder in a garlic ginger sauce and house special hot pot which came with seafood (scallop, shrimp, squid), chicken, pork and tofu with vegetables and side of white rice. Everything is reasonably priced especially the entire fish and food came out quick. Will be back for sure!
Great experience. Service wasn’t exactly warm but very attentive. Atmosphere was meh. But who cares if the food is good. Must be authentic cuz Id never heard of most of the stuff on the Dim Sum menu. Lotus paste buns - FIRE! Bangin, my favorite thing. Fried chive dumplings - very good. Shark fin dumplings - very good. Siu Mei - Bangin, really good. Stuffed dry bean curd sheet - never heard of it before and they were great. Beef rice paste - never heard of it before and it was awful lol, only thing I wouldn’t get again. Lunch special duck over rice w/ bok choy. Duck was really good but not as much meat on it as I would’ve liked, bok choy was fantastic they cooked it perfectly. Chicken lo Mein - must be the authentic version, thinner noodles, while it’s not my preference I will say it was sooooo much cleaner than Americanized lo Mein that’s all oily and the ingredients were way higher quality than standard lo Mein. Big portions, good prices, great food glad I came.
We have never seen a Chinese restaurant with a wider variety than China Yuan. We decided to order items we can't find elsewhere, like Hong Kong frog and abalone and sea cucumber soup. Everything tasted great. I could try twenty different menu items and still have plenty more to try. They offer dim sum in the afternoon, along with their extensive menu. The service was prompt and friendly as well.
Atmosphere: 3 out of 5 as its location isn’t the best Service: 10/10 super quick and very knowledgeable if you are new to a “real authentic” Chinese cuisine Food: 10/10 literally the only authentic Chinese spot in Tampa with duck/frog/ on the menu and services the BEST DUMPLINGS Highly recommend and you can thank me and my husband later

The food was outstanding. It was my first authentic Chinese food experience and it really impressed me. Several pages of menu options and everything we ordered was prepared with care and skill. I will surely frequent this place more often.
Love the food here, some of the best Chinese food in Tampa. The lobster or crab cooked with ginger and scallion are both amazing. Love the chicken lettuce wraps too. Hard to go wrong with anything here.
